Reflective essay 2

Reflective essay 2
The role of technology has played a critical role in the classroom. Chapter one of Support learning with technology, explains the meaning of educational technology, the benefits from learning with technology and the fundamental use of technology in the classroom.  Technology in general has no set definition. Author Joy Egbert of Support learning with technology, defines technology in a variety of definitions such as one my favorite definitions of technology, “the application of knowledge to meet the goals, goods, and services desired” (Egbert, 11).  I like this definition, because it includes one of the basic principles in learning, which is the applying of knowledge.
Educational technology includes the use of the computer and helps fulfill learning in different ways. With educational technology students are able to use different resource materials such as, the internet, PowerPoint, I movie and more.  Educational technology is very interesting, because learning with technology has effective outcomes in the classroom. “There are benefits to group work, high-level concept understanding for older students and improvement in student attitudes toward computer technologies” (Egbert, 13). Although technology in the classroom is effective, it will not guarantee success for every student. “Technology has not been shown over all to be effective at increasing student achievement” (Egbert, 13). he effectiveness in the classroom is based on the applied knowledge of material and connected to technology.
Chapter one of Support learning with technology, has helped me realize the importance of technology in the classroom. Though chapter one had great informative information about technology and education, I believe chapter one lacked the explanation of teachers’ roles with technology. Though technology is used in our lives, technology is nothing without someone operating it. Furthermore, educational technology plays an important role in the classroom, because students can learn with it.

Reflective essay1

Clement Jean Francois

For decades technology has consistently enhanced the basic ways of living including education.  The Influence of technology has attracted educators based on the idea of change and the engagement of students. As technology advances, the process of learning will undergo change as well. It is important that teachers know and support learning with technology, based on the benefits that technology offers to learning. One of the benefits that technology has to offer is the benefit of learning new literacy. Learning new literacy will enhance the classroom which will ultimately provide a productive learning environment for students when applied properly.  Literacy such as, informative literacy, technological literacy and media literacy, play a critical role in the classroom. When teachers support learning through technology, students are able to cultivate techniques that can be used outside of the classroom that will soon benefit their future.

A classroom setting is comprised of plenty sources and technology is one of the new major components when teaching.  The role of technology is a great resource to help advance students as they apply the technology in productive ways.  For instance, lessons on letters and essays contain fundamentals of writing in which can be transferred through various forms of technology that will develop the use of technology outside the classroom. I believe that learning is created when someone applies information and draws from it. People learn when they decide to engage themselves or are engaged from certain schools of thought and activities.

I plan to teach students by challenging them to think and engaging them to develop a level of interest of the lesson.  I believe that when a person begins to use the faculties of their mind, they are able to input in whatever they are learning while having an enjoyable experience. As a teacher, I would implement technology in the class room through activities and lessons.  Activities and lessons would consistent of using specific technologies such as prezi presentations and glogster. As students are engaged, the focus of the lesson will be presented in a creative learning environment that supports learning and technology.

Reading Chapter one of Support Learning and Technology, has helped me to understand the use of technology in the classroom and its importance. My goal for this course is to enhance my knowledge of using technology while applying that knowledge. I plan to learn the material so that I may cultivate the understanding of the use of technology outside of the classroom. I hope to accomplish the proper ways of using technology while completing the course with a grade of A.
